Dr. Agnes Ip, Ph.D., LMFT

Founder & CEO

Dr. Agnes Ip is the Founder and CEO of Presence, a California licensed marriage and family therapist, trainer and coach. She graduated from Alliance Bible Seminary and received her Masters in Clinical Psychology at Azusa Pacific University and her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology with an emphasis in multicultural community clinical psychology at Alliant International University (AIU). In her earlier years, she was a church minister in Hong Kong and later served as a mental health therapist for government subsidized outpatient clinics. In recent years, Agnes has provided clinical guidance for marriage & family therapist trainees and interns from various universities. She and her husband Benny have been married for over 30 years and have two adult children.

She has more than 20 years of experience in the mental health profession and interned at local public schools, domestic violence shelters, and drug addiction rehabilitation centers in the U.S. She has also performed psychological assessments for abused children at a government hospital. Additionally, she trains and coaches couples and families, professionals, small businesses, and organizations. She has trained professionals on how to resolve interpersonal conflict and how to work with difficult people, and has coached business owners and high-level executives in human resource management. She has coached professionals in the marketplace as well as church and pastoral staff workers.

Dr. Agnes is a sought-after speaker and trainer for seminars and conferences on parenting, personal growth, professional psychology and counseling and has been often interviewed by the media. She has been referred to as the “Blessings Therapist” by Good TV in Taiwan.

Over the past ten years, Dr. Agnes has been passionate about nurturing the next generation to serve in their families, workplaces, and current cultural context. She has developed an assertive communication training curriculum for parents and children and published three training books on the topic. She has also produced a booklet for families entitled, “Essential Concepts of Wise Parenting,” and acts as the Editorial Director for the Presence Family Magazine, for which she frequently writes articles on mental health, family values, youth and culture. Jennifer Wong

Project Coordinator

Jennifer was graduated at Biola University with a Psychology degree. She had been in the jewelry business for over 20 yrs.  She accepted Christ as her Savior at 12 , and rededicated in the WCCCC , 1979.  She loves music, so she serves actively in her church as a choir member, a director and a pianist. She also teaches children & adult Sunday school. She is a good listener, so people will come to her to share and to be counseled. In her leisure time she enjoys shopping, reading, listening to hymns, singing, fellowship with friends & family.

Joan Hsiung

Project Coordinator

Joan came to the United States from Taiwan in the 80s. She got her master’s degree in computer science and worked as a software engineer for many years. Responding to God’s calling in 2000, Joan and her husband Paul moved back to Taiwan to study at China Evangelical Seminary. In 2003, Joan obtained the master’s degree in Christian Studies, concentrating in Pastoral Counseling. After returning to the United States, she served as a pastor amongst Chinese congregations in the Boston and California areas. Joan joins Presence with a passion for family ministry and a heart toward tackling the aging problem within Chinese churches in North America. Joan happily lives with her husband, and they have two adult daughters. In her free time, she enjoys playing with her dog Aca, traveling, enjoying gourmet food, and gathering with friends and family.

Maggie Hui

Publication Coordinator

Maggie has a Masters of Public Health degree from the University of Michigan (Ann Arbor). She is a registered dietitian and worked as a supervisor for years at a government agency. Maggie has been a partner of Presence since the beginning. She was a trainer for the Youth Leadership Program and a Presence board member. After being married and becoming a mother, Maggie began participating in Presence’s workshops. Maggie currently serves as the Publication Coordinator of Presence. She serves in children ministry at church and enjoys watching movies and traveling.

Lily Ma

Content Write/Editor

Lily graduated from York University in Toronto Canada, majoring in Geography; and also earned her Master of Christian Studies in 1988 at China Graduate School of Theology in Hong Kong. She moved to the United States in 1990, had served in church, seminary and Christian organizations. She had been youth counselors for years, and has a special passion in personal growth. She joined Presence as a part time coworker in 2010 and is now serving as a content writer and editor. She has two grown-up children. She enjoys writing, singing and traveling.

Wicy Zhang

Project Coordinator

Wicy graduated from Cal State Fullerton with a B.A. in Communications where she concentrated on photocommunications. She started out as a volunteer helping out with RE:NEW and is currently the Project Coordinator at Presence. She enjoys music and serves at her church as a worship leader. In her free time, she enjoys the outdoors, coffee, journaling, music, photography, and spending time with family and friends.

Carol Li

Multimedia Specialist

Carol provides services for Presence’s visual promotion materials, media-related projects. and coordinates vision and audio system for events. Outside of work, she enjoys going on mission trips, coordinating productions in theatrical, reading and watching movie.

Winnie Tang

Marketing Specialist

Winnie graduated in City University of Hong Kong with a B.A. in Communications where she concentrated more on Marketing. Winnie serves as the Marketing Specialist of Presence. She serves in children ministry in church and enjoys traveling, playing board games with friends and learning new things.

Monica Chan

Social Media Coordinator and Ministry Assistant

Monica has been awarded the International professional makeup artist diploma in New York and HK.  While in Hong Kong, she has been involved in Girl Scouts, was a team leader on the Red Cross Youth team, and served in children’s Sunday school for kids many years.  She enjoys painting, travelling, aerobic exercise and homemade HK-style desserts. Monica now works part-time as Presence’s social media and ministry assistant where she hopes to dedicate all of her work to God.

Elizabeth Hughes

Content Writer & Editor

Elizabeth graduated from Biola University with a BA in Journalism and an MA in Christian Ministry and Leadership. After graduating, she and her husband Geoff moved to Sapporo, Japan for 3.5 years to share the gospel through English teaching. In 2019, she moved back to the US and started working with RE:NEW as a Content Writer and Editor. She loves to travel and explore new places with her husband and two daughters and as a hobby, she blogs about their adventures together. 

Christine Ng

Assistant Project Coordinator

Christine graduated from the Chinese University of Hong Kong, with the Bachelor (Honor) of Education and the Master of School Guidance and Counseling. She taught in a Christian high school for about six years when she mainly served in student counseling, evangelical and spiritual formation ministries. After marrying her husband, the whole family moved to Texas. She responded to the Lord’s calling and received training at Southwestern Baptist Seminary. She studied Biblical Counseling, and is now studying the Master of Theological Studies. She has been serving as a Sunday School teacher and fellowship mentor, as well as in caring and discipleship ministries at church. Her passion is to build up Christians and families with counseling and the Bible. She resides with her husband and two lovely sons in Los Angeles, California.

Jessie Lo

Project Assistant

Jessie graduated from Cal State Long Beach with a B.A. in Studio Art. She would like to work in animation and pre-production for the entertainment industry in the future. She is now working at Presence as Project Assistant for design work. In her free time, she enjoys gaming, watching anime, reading Webtoons, and playing with her friends’ dogs. 

Dr. Ning & Mrs. Rosa Sizto

Northern California Outreach support (volunteer)

Ning has a PhD in Physiology, and a M.S. in Computer Science.  He has worked as a software engineer in the biotechnology field for more than 25 years.  He is currently pursuing a certificate in Transformational Coaching at Western Seminary.  Rosa has an M.S. in Pediatric Nursing.  She home schooled their three children and has been involved in hotline and lay counseling ministries.  Ning & Rosa are passionate about strengthening marriages and families, and they have been involved in marriage and family ministries for around 20 years. They are a leader-couple for CFFC Marriage Enrichment Retreats and have helped organize their yearly Family Vacation Camp. They enjoy leading small groups, gardening, nature, and hiking.

Administration

Vanessa Lai

Administrative Manager

Vanessa joined Presence since 2012 and serves as a part-time staff.  She oversees organizational administration, HR, accounting, and assists in assessment research. She graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce from University of Toronto and had attained the Canadian CMA and CGA designations. She worked in Hong Kong for 16 years as an auditor, operations analyst and management accountant before relocating to California. She enjoys exploring new places and sharing life stories.

Joanne Tang

Administrator

Joanne started out as a volunteer in Presence for a few years and later joined Presence in 2018 as a part-time administrator. One of her roles is database and system management.  She moved to the United States from Hong Kong with her family in 1989. She then worked in a bank and completed her bachelor’s degree in Cal Poly Pomona.  After graduation, she worked in a church as an administrator for 20 years.  Since accepting Jesus Christ as her Savior at the age of 14, she has been attending church and serving in it. Currently she is involved as a deacon and also serves in the praise team in her church. Joanne and her husband have two sons and a puppy.

Mary Hu

Office Administrative Assistant

Mary moved to the US in 1982. She had then worked in a bank and had helped her husband in his online business. Prior to joining Presence as a part-time staff in early 2017, Mary was a Presence volunteer and was also involved with various nonprofit organizations. Outside of work, Mary attends BSF weekly and is a dedicated member of her church. Mary enjoys hiking, cooking, watching Chinese television drama and singing. It is Mary’s prayer that God will use her in her family, work, and personal relationships to glorify Him.
